Glad Gold Hearts is everything a duo album should be. Fiddle players and singers both, Anna and Rowan each bring their distinct styles to an album which is ultimately about two musicians exploring a rich shared musical background through listening, communicating and playing together. The sisters’ innate musical connection is quickly apparent; each one anticipates the other, leading then following, a foundation that allows them immense freedom. They play boldly, without fear, take risks and reap the rewards. The Rheingans Sisters lean into one another and, as if they have always done so, play. Recorded live with producer Andy Bell (Spiers and Boden, Fay Hield, Lady Maisery) moments of spontaneity and unexpected turns are honestly and beautifully captured.
